Seller's Guide

There are no sales fees and you can open a Bazaar auction for as little as 24 cents. Auctions are opened with pre-purchased credits called Bazaar Bucks. Listing fee is one Bazaar Buck (BB) per $100 of starting price. The starting price is your highest price. The maximum starting price for a Bazaar auction is $600.

Bazaar auctions stay at their starting price for 24 hours. The price then drops every hour until the auction ends. The auction ends when a bid is made or when your auction is at your stop price for one hour without a bid.

A declining price auction helps get the best price for your domain even when there is only one interested party. Someone interested in your domain never knows if someone else is prepared to place a bid or has already placed a proxy bid on your domain. In a regular auction with only one interested party, the winning bid will always be at your lowest price.

Escrow services are not included in standard Bazaar auctions but are available when desired. If you sell a domain, you are going to collect from the buyer and make the domain transfer directly to the buyer. If you have not established a favorable feedback history, you might want to include our Escrow service for your Bazaar auction. It is available for a special Bazaar price of $30. If you include escrow service, "Afternic Escrow (paid by seller)" will be displayed on your auction.

You must have sufficient Bazaar Bucks in your Bazaar Account before opening an auction. Generous discount are available for bulk purchases. We do not refund BB purchases or buy back unused BBs. If you want to share your BBs or sell surplus BBs you can push them into another Afternic account.

We automatically close your Afternic listing when you open a Bazaar auction for a domain that you have listed on Afternic.

When you open a Bazaar Auction, you must set two prices, a starting price and a stop price. The starting price is your highest price. This price will determine your listing fee. The auction will end without a sale if it is at your stop price for one hour without a bid. Set the stop price to $1 if you want to sell at any price. Be careful when setting prices. You will not be able to edit your auction once it has started. If you need to end an auction, you can use the Remove Auction button at the bottom of the your listing page. We do not refund listing fees for ended or unsuccessful auctions.

Your auction will stay at the starting price for 24 hours. After that, the price drops every hour. If you choose a stop price that is close to your starting price, your auction will not last very long. If you set your stop price at $1 and your domain does not sell, your auction will last about 9 days and 8 hours. If your stop price is 50% of your starting price, the auction will last about 5 days and 4 hours.

There are several reasons to set reasonable wholesale starting prices. This is a wholesale venue. Expect wholesale ending prices. Since the auction stays at the starting price for 24 hours before it starts to drop, more people will see your auction at the starting price than any other price. Do not waste this valuable first day with an unreasonable price. The price drops more dollars per hour if you set a higher starting price. If you set a higher price than your domain demands, when the dropping price approaches the value of your domain, it is going to be dropping faster. Therefore, the price will stay in the optimum range for a shorter time. You also pay a higher listing fee for your auction if you set a higher starting price.

If you are confident that your domain name has a wholesale value of more than $600, you should sell it on the exchange. We do not allow a starting price of more than $600 on the Bazaar. If you want to sell your domain quickly and not wait for an end user to come along that might pay much more for your domain, you should set a very low starting price and set the reserve the same price as the starting price. This should solicit a quick first offer. Once you have an offer, your domain will be featured on our Closing Soon box on our home page. The large traffic exposure to these Closing Soon listings should get you the best wholesale price available anywhere.

In order to provide the best auction experience for our members, we allow our members to offer feedback about their transactions with other members. Only the first feedback you give someone will be counted towards their feedback rating. If you sell 5 names to one member, only the first feedback you give them will be counted. If 5 unique users gave you a positive rating and 2 unique users gave you a negative rating, your overall rating would be 3 (5 positive - 2 negative).

Members can be suspended from using the Bazaar for the following reasons:
  1. If you have received four or more negative feedbacks from other Bazaar members within the past six months.
  2. Afternic.com has determined your account unreliable either through lack of communication, lack of proper auction conduct, or for a reason unmentioned here.
